Orlando Pirates Captain Nkosinathi Sibisi Confident Ahead of Carling Knockout Final

Orlando Pirates captain Nkosinathi Sibisi has signaled determination ahead of the sold-out Carling Knockout final against Marumo Gallants this weekend. The team is chasing a second trophy this season, having already lifted the MTN8, but the Carling Knockout has remained elusive in recent years.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference at the club’s Johannesburg training base, Sibisi, known as ‘Bhodlela’, stressed the squad’s readiness. “The boys are looking sharp. We know it is a cup that has eluded us for some time now, but we are really looking forward to playing the game on Saturday,” he said.

Sibisi acknowledged the challenge posed by Marumo Gallants, a team that has already beaten Mamelodi Sundowns en route to the final. “We know what we are coming up against, a very good side, but the boys are prepared for the game,” he added.

He reflected on the team’s growth this season. “Whenever there are changes, there is doubt. At the start of the season, we started on a back foot, and for the boys to pick up and the coach, I think it speaks volumes to the character of the group. We trusted the process, and now we are reaping the rewards.”

The final will be held at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, built for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The match promises to be fiercely competitive, with both sides determined to lift the trophy. The winner will receive R6,8 million.

Carling Black Label brand director Kerryn Greenleaf highlighted the fan experience. “The 6th of December in Polokwane promises to be a spectacle. In true Carling Black Label fashion, there will be phenomenal football, but everything we do will be about the fans. We’ve got some really exciting plans.”

Pirates will rely on Sibisi’s leadership and the squad’s character to claim the title, while Gallants will aim to continue their giant-killing run. The final is shaping up to be one of the season’s most anticipated encounters.
