Orlando Pirates Clarify Boitumelo Radiopane’s Future Amid Loan Speculation

Orlando Pirates striker Boitumelo Radiopane has been at the centre of growing speculation in recent weeks, with reports suggesting the club could send him out on loan to secure more game time. The 23 year old forward, however, is set to remain at the Soweto giants, with new information providing clarity on his immediate future at the club.

Radiopane started the 2025/26 season on a positive note under new head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou. He appeared to have earned the coach’s trust early on and was selected ahead of established names such as Tshegofatso Mabasa, who is set to join Stellenbosch FC, Bafana Bafana striker Evidence Makgopa and young forward Yanele Mbuthuma. This early run suggested that Ouaddou viewed Radiopane as a key part of his attacking plans.

The striker’s momentum stalled after he suffered an injury that ruled him out for a crucial part of the campaign. He featured in only four matches before the setback, with two appearances coming in the Betway Premiership and two in the MTN8. The injury disrupted his rhythm at a time when he was pushing to establish himself as a regular starter.

After recovering, Radiopane returned to action in the Carling Cup and made an immediate impact. He came on as a second half substitute and found the back of the net as Pirates defeated the Carling All Stars to lift the trophy. The goal highlighted his ability to influence games, even in limited minutes.

Despite this, Radiopane has struggled to break back into the starting line up as the season progressed. Coach Ouaddou has often opted for Makgopa and Mbuthuma in attack, which has limited Radiopane’s opportunities and fuelled talk of a possible loan move in the second half of the season.

Those reports have now been dismissed. Prosport International Agency representative Mike Makaab has confirmed that Radiopane will not be leaving the club on loan. The striker is expected to stay at Orlando Pirates and compete for his place as the season continues, backing himself to force his way back into the coach’s plans.

Pirates are preparing for a Betway Premiership clash against Sekhukhune United at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, January 24. Radiopane will be hoping this fixture presents a chance to earn valuable minutes and remind the technical team of his quality as he looks to revive his campaign in black and white.
