PSL Stars Poised for Major Overseas Transfers in 2026

South African football continues to gain respect on the global stage. The Premier Soccer League has proven it can develop players ready for Europe and the United States. Recent transfers have reinforced this belief. The move of Mbekezeli Mbokazi from Orlando Pirates to MLS side Chicago Fire stands as a clear example. As 2026 approaches, several local-based players look ready to take the same step.
Relebohile Mofokeng remains one of the most valuable young assets in the PSL. The Orlando Pirates attacker has long been viewed as a future European export. His close control, creativity and composure in tight spaces set him apart. While teammates like Mohau Nkota and Mbokazi have already secured overseas moves, Mofokeng’s journey has been more measured. Many coaches and scouts still believe his ceiling is higher. Recent improvements in consistency and decision-making suggest maturity. With strong domestic performances and AFCON exposure, 2026 could mark his move abroad.

Teboho Mokoena is another player whose time appears near. The Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder attracted European interest after his standout AFCON showing. He chose to remain at Sundowns and extend his contract. Since then, he has remained central to their success and a guaranteed starter under Hugo Broos at Bafana Bafana. His passing range, leadership and ability to dictate tempo suit European football. Another strong international tournament could change his future. This time, a serious offer may be accepted.

Siyabonga Mabena’s path has been more complex but his potential remains clear. The Sundowns youngster has faced stiff competition for minutes and suffered an ACL injury late in 2024. Despite limited game time, overseas interest has surfaced before, including from Denmark. Sundowns’ valuation stalled that move. Mabena continues to work toward regular senior football. If he secures consistent minutes, his pace and attacking intent could reopen doors abroad.

Thabo Moloisane has built his reputation through steady performances at Stellenbosch FC. The defender has been one of the most reliable players in his position. His reading of the game and composure under pressure have drawn interest from Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns. While local moves remain possible, overseas interest cannot be ruled out. Continued consistency could place him on the international market by 2026.

Oswin Appollis joined Orlando Pirates after attracting attention from Belgium, Scotland, England and North Africa. His speed and ability to beat defenders make him a modern winger suited to overseas leagues. Even after signing locally, scouts continue to monitor his progress. It is not unusual for players to spend only one season before moving abroad. A strong campaign could see Appollis exit sooner than expected.

Vuyo Letlapa of Sekhukhune United is widely viewed as ready for Europe. Many believe a direct overseas move would better serve his career than a transfer to one of the local giants. His attacking runs, defensive awareness and physical endurance match European demands. After establishing himself at club level and breaking into the national setup, a move abroad appears logical.

Khulumani Ndamane of TS Galaxy has already attracted international interest, notably from Romanian side FCSB. His situation mirrors that of Siyabonga Ngezana, who successfully made that transition. Local giants remain keen, but Ndamane has spoken openly about his ambition to play overseas. With age on his side and growing experience, that ambition looks achievable.

Football experts continue to stress the importance of moving abroad at the right time. Players who leave early often return stronger, tactically sharper and more confident. With AFCON exposure and improved scouting networks, PSL players now enjoy greater visibility than ever before. For many of these talents, the next two seasons will define their careers. For some, 2026 will be the year they step onto the global stage.
