Rulani Mokwena Looking Forward to Facing Al Ahly! The Brazilians take on their Egyptian counterparts today.
Mamelodi Sundowns host Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League this afternoon. Head coach Rulani Mokwena is eagerly anticipating the encounter.
The match has been dubbed as the African Derby. In their last match, they drew 2-2 in Cairo.
Al Ahly needs the points more than Mamelodi Sundowns, as victory for Masandawana would all but seal qualification into the next round.
“It’s going to be a good game, and everyone has huge anticipation for it.” Mokwena told the club media.
“Both Sundowns and Al-Ahly have got a lot to play for in the group. There are three more games to go and a lot of work to be done but we’re taking it one game at a time.
“We will be taking on a good opponent and we are looking forward to the game.
“Our focus is always on ourselves. We try to make sure that we always do the best that we can for this football club.
“We have to focus on ourselves and our performance as well as give ourselves the best opportunity to win the match and get as close as possible to getting to ten points.
“We also have to target qualification to the next round and work very hard because we have to earn everything we receive. Nothing is given to us on a silver platter”
Mokwena has emphasised that they are not going into the match to play for a draw, they want all three points. This is how they approach every match they play in.
“We try to win every single game, every sprint, training session and we try to bring the winning mentality that is recognizable by the supporters of this club. We go into the next match with that mentality.” He concluded.
