Sekhukhune United Win Court Case and Promotion into DSTV Premiership! Babina Noko was involved in a lengthy court case which was set to decide their status for the next campaign.
Earlier this season, Sekhukhune and Polokwane City faced each other in the GladAfrica Championship. NFD rules state that each team must have at least 5 players aged 23 or under in the Matchday squad.
Any team which fails to meet those requirements will forfeit the match 3-0. Polokwane City only provided 4 players aged 23 or under.
This means that, irrespective of the result of that match, Sekhukhune United is handed the 3-0 victory. This comes with 3 points and +3 goals for.
After the final day of the GladAfrica Championship, Royal AM topped the table with 51 points. Sekhukhune came second with 50 points.
However, a trophy handover was postponed as this cloud was hanging over the NFD.
After this court ruling, Sekhukhune United have been given 3 points and now top the table with a total of 53 points.
Royal AM still have the opportunity to make it into next season’s DSTV Premiership through the promotion playoffs. They will take on Richards Bay FC and Chippa United in the playoffs.
Congratulations to Babina Noko! Sekhukhune United Win Court Case and Promotion into DSTV Premiership!
