Stellenbosch FC Ready to Take on Kaizer Chiefs, Says Devin Titus

Stellenbosch FC defender Devin Titus has insisted his side will not be intimidated by Kaizer Chiefs ahead of their Round of 32 clash, the third meeting between the two teams this season. Titus stressed that both sides are big teams in the PSL and that Stellenbosch will go into the match with confidence.

“We know Kaizer Chiefs are a very big team, but Stellenbosch is also a big team in the PSL. We just have to take it one game at a time and hopefully come out with positive results,” Titus said.

Titus highlighted the importance of focusing on the team’s approach and maintaining a positive mindset, regardless of the opposition. He also acknowledged the desire to compete for silverware this season. “Who doesn’t want to win a cup? At the end of the day, we have to stay positive in everything we do, whether it’s the Nedbank Cup or the MTN8,” he explained.

The Stellenbosch defender also spoke about working under new coach Kevin, who he described as highly experienced and capable of bringing a winning mentality back to the club. “He comes with a lot of accolades, and all he says is Stellenbosch has to go back to playing the Stellenbosch way. Hopefully, his approach can bring positive results for the team,” Titus added.

Titus reflected on his personal connection to the club, noting loyalty as a key motivator. “I’m very happy to be at Stellenbosch. This is the club that gave me my debut and believed in me. It’s about showing loyalty back to them,” he said.

Addressing the team’s challenging start to the season, Titus emphasized the importance of refocusing on the league after a short break and using the arrival of the new coach as a chance to reset. “For us, this is like a preseason. We need to showcase our talents again and focus on the league, which is very important given our position,” he said.

Titus also acknowledged the loss of key players like Andre and Steve, highlighting the club’s ability to rebuild and continue its work. “We’ve lost important players, but Stellenbosch has shown it can replace people and keep moving forward,” he said.

On adapting to the new coach, Titus underlined respect and commitment as priorities. “It’s about respecting the coach. He knows what he wants and comes with experience. He’s not changing the Stellenbosch way, but adding to it, which can be very positive for us,” he concluded.

Stellenbosch will now prepare to face Kaizer Chiefs with renewed focus, aiming to assert themselves in another high-stakes PSL encounter.
