Sundowns look to finish top of Group C.

Mamelodi Sundowns will wrap up their group C campaign in the Caf Champions League when they host AS Vita at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday evening. Kick-off is at 7pm.

The African champions are safely through to the quarterfinals of the 2017 competition, regardless of their result against already-eliminated ASV.

The Brazilians secured a place in the top two of the group last weekend when they won 1-0 away to Ethiopia’s Saint George.

Performing strongly away from home has been a theme of Sundowns’ African campaign this year: Pitso Mosimane’s men are unbeaten on the road in this competition in 2017.

Yet there is a need for Downs to spark their home form back into life, especially with the quarterfinals (and the start of their new domestic season) looming large, and Mosimane will see this clash as an opportunity to do just that.

Furthermore, a win could help the Tshwane team claim first place in the group, though they would need leaders Esperance de Tunis to be held or beaten at home by Saint George in the other match in Rades on Sunday evening.

In an effort to ensure the match is played in front of a strong crowd, Sundowns have announced that all fans wearing club colours or any yellow apparel will be allowed free entry into the stadium on Sunday.

The Brazilians defeated AS Vita 3-1 in the teams’ last meeting in Kinshasa back in May, with Anthony Laffor, Yannick Zakri and Sibusiso Vilakazi scoring the goals for the away side.
Moroccan referee Noureddine El Jaafari will take charge of the match in Tshwane on Sunday evening.
