Thabo Qalinge was released by AmaZulu at the end of last season, and he currently has no offers. He is apparently stressed out over the financial implications of all of this.
Section 10 was signed by Benni McCarthy in January 2021. He showed great promise in the remainder of that campaign as Usuthu qualified for the CAF Champions League.
However, last season was completely different as the fortunes of the club, coach and some players changed. They suffered poor form last campaign which saw McCarthy fired by Sandile Zungu.
Players like Qalinge also suffered because new coach Brandon Truter deemed him surplus to requirements. This saw his contract terminated.
He has since been without a club.
“I feel so sorry for him because I can see the pain in his eyes,” a source reported to Phakaaathi.
“He is worried and stressed because at the moment he doesn’t have any income. He has some savings, but that money is going to dry up.
“He looks after a lot of people and that means spending a lot of money, which would see him broke very quickly,” the source disclosed.
