Elias Mokwana Linked with Saudi Pro League Move

Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana is reportedly close to a move to Saudi Arabia, but his proposed loan transfer to Al-Hazem has not yet been finalised, sources reveal.
The 25-year-old enjoyed a standout debut season with Tunisian side Esperance Sportive de Tunis, winning a domestic treble and registering 11 goal involvements in over 30 appearances across all competitions. His performances have attracted interest from the Saudi Pro League, with a season-long loan deal reportedly in discussion.
While some reports suggested the deal had already been completed, a source close to Mokwana clarified that negotiations are ongoing. “It’s not yet agreed, we are still sorting out a few things. The player’s representative in Saudi, who is working on behalf of his South African agent, is handling the matter. Discussions are ongoing with all parties, and it looks promising. What is certain is that he will be leaving Esperance, but the finer details are still being finalised,” the source explained.
If the transfer goes through, Mokwana would join fellow South African Mohau Nkota in the Saudi league. Nkota recently moved from Orlando Pirates to Al-Ettifaq, paving the way for Mokwana to follow in his footsteps.
Mokwana’s potential move represents another step in the growing trend of South African players exploring opportunities in the Middle East, offering both exposure and competitive experience in a rapidly developing league.
The winger’s decision will be closely watched by fans and analysts, as it could mark a significant chapter in his career following a highly successful debut season in North Africa.
