Arthur Zwane Expects A Very Difficult Second-Leg Against Wydad Casablanca! Amakhosi took a surprising 1-0 victory in the first leg of the CAF Champions League.
Striker Samir Nurkovic scored the only goal of the game as Kaizer Chiefs defeated Wydad Casablanca 1-0 in the first leg of their CAF Champions League semi-final. Interim coach Arthur Zwane refuses to rest on his laurels as they prepare for an onslaught in the second leg.
They had to be strong throughout the game as they faced 28 shots on goal. They found the back of the net with their only shot on target.
“We came here to do the business and we did exactly that.” Zwane told the media after the game.
“We are happy with the result, but we know it’s not yet over. We have the second leg back home in Johannesburg and we will try and finish it off there,” he added.
Goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma won the man of the match award for his stellar performance. He singlehandedly kept Chiefs in the game with a string of good saves as their defence was under tremendous pressure.
“Everyone gave 100 percent, I’m happy with the result and with the clean sheet. We know it’s not over, it’s only halfway. We just have to keep going and working hard,” the goalkeeper said.
He was in tears after the game, a testament to what the performance and result meant to him.
“I told him to make sure we don’t concede and it will go a long way, especially for your career and it happened exactly how we planned it. Maybe that is why he broke down after the game because he was obviously happy not to concede.
“But we still have another ninety minutes to play and then to make sure, we keep another clean sheet and make sure that we get another goal to wrap it up at home.” Coach Arthur Zwane said of Bruce Bvuma and his performance.
