Manqoba Mngqithi Claims to Enjoy Tough Matches! Masandawana play against The Buccaneers later today.
Mamelodi Sundowns host Orlando Pirates in their MTN 8 semi-final second leg this afternoon. Co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi says that these are his favourite matches in football.
Games don’t come much tougher than this in domestic football for The Brazilians. Orlando Pirates have been tipped as the team to push Sundowns closest to the league title this season.
Masandawana may have tougher games in the CAF Champions League, but domestically, this is as good as it gets. The first leg ended in an enthralling 0-0 stalemate at the Orlando Stadium.
“I like to play big matches,” he told the media before the match.
“Playing big matches makes you dig deeper and become more meticulous in what makes a team have the respect that they have. We play good football and so do [Orlando] Pirates.
“These types of matches are exactly what I like because you never know what the outcome will be.” He spoke.
Sundowns were heavily criticised after they failed to register a shot on target in Soweto. Despite this, Mngqithi is confident that they can win the tie.
“We believe that we’ve got a team that is capable of coming out of this match with a result. We are not going to take this game for granted.
“We know that the stakes are high. Every match that we play we always go into that match with the mentality to win.
“In this space it doesn’t matter whether we concede or what happens, but if at the end of the game we’ve scored more than the opposition that is the most important thing because we always want to win the match.” He spoke.
