Kaizer Chiefs Eye Third Consecutive Win as Superb Start Continues

Kaizer Chiefs have made a strong start to the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season, but the club faces a familiar challenge as they aim for a third consecutive victory. The Soweto giants host Richards Bay FC at FNB Stadium on Tuesday evening in their third league match.
Chiefs began the season with wins over Stellenbosch FC and Polokwane City, and now look to extend their winning run. However, winning three games in a row has proved elusive for Amakhosi since late 2023. Last season, Chiefs had four opportunities to record three consecutive wins but failed on each occasion. The last time they achieved three straight victories was before Christmas 2023, under caretaker coach Cavin Johnson, when they defeated Moroka Swallows, Polokwane City, and Richards Bay.
With head coach Nasreddine Nabi absent for the first two games, assistants Khalid Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze have led the team to perfect results. Ben Youssef emphasized the importance of mental readiness and focusing on one game at a time.
“So, our target this season is to firstly keep our players always mentally ready for the next game,” said Ben Youssef. “Always ready to take each game like a cup game and we decided to take it game by game and we don’t think about the game after. For example, we have Richards Bay next, and all our mental focus is on Richards Bay.”
Ben Youssef also highlighted the team’s defensive improvements. Last season, Chiefs struggled with conceding goals, which was a major focus during pre-season. “After two games now, two clean sheets and I think we have succeeded in this point,” he said.
Offensively, Chiefs continue to refine individual and team play. “There is a lot of technical thinking and the team idea on how we play,” added Ben Youssef. “We know our mistakes and we try to correct it at training.”
Tuesday’s match against Richards Bay will test whether Chiefs can overcome their historical challenge and record three wins in a row to maintain momentum in the new season.
